Casual Kitchen Bar in New Moroxico
Dallas, Texas

Skiing in the Jungle
I am reluctant to call this the formal living room, as I purposefully set out to make this entry area the most WELCOMING AND COZY space in the entire house. It also needed to set the tone, but without yet introducing anything too shocking or grim.

So I asked myself, “What are the places in this world where you feel happiest and most at peace?”
The answer came to me easily, it was the tents of an AFRICAN SAFARI and the SKI CABINS of the Colorado mountains; but figuring out how to combine the two, that was the challenge!

Rustic stonework was part of the equation from the get-go, but bringing in the warmth of the kitchen with a stone fireplace that straddles both rooms really took the coziness to the next level.
The final outcome ended up being so much more than just a simple combination and more of a WORDLY BUFFET foreshadowing the entirety of New Moroxico.

Everything except — I decided it was too soon to introduce any of my more ghastly tribal masks this early in the house. Gotta ease ‘em into that!
